How to download oblivion mods
For those who think that Oblivion needs some drastic changes though modding is one of the best things available to them. Oblivion has almost as many mods available for it as its younger brother Skyrim , which means that there are so many fun and interesting things to add to it.
This guide shows players which mods for Oblivion are the best and how to install them. The best part of modding older video games is that it is incredibly easy to do so. Whereas newer and therefore more complicated games may require a little bit of finagling to get things to work, most of the time with older titles it is a simple matter of downloading and extracting a few files.
This is exactly the case with Oblivion , but things can be made even easier by downloading a mod manager. First things first though players will need to go over to the Nexus Mods website and create a free account. This website is a community of modders who have created and collected thousands of mods all in one location. Everything here is free and should be completely safe to download. Players who have any issues with downloading or installing a mod should be able to find all of the resources that they need right on the Nexus Mods site.
Once users are registered with Nexus Mods can then download their official mod manager called Vortex. Category: Modding or Configuration. Languages: English. Guide Index. OBSE Plugins. Gameplay Mods. Graphic Mods. The End Results. Set upon medieval temperate forest with diverse locations, in the themes of vegetation and the architechture, and thanks to the colorful visuals, the game can be quite beauty to look at stands even for this time with the vibrant colors it has.
Unfortunately, playing it for few hours will show the worst aspects of the game; leveling that requires min-maxing in order to be efficient at higher levels, fights that lasts over minutes due to a high healthpool and extremely forced level scaling, making sure that nothing high or nothing lower ever spawns, only revolving around the player. Also, the game introduced character face generation, which is great in concept to give every NPC an unique look, but it is unfortunate that the modeling of the faces came a bit off, leading to creations of monstrosities rather than ordinary looking people.
As a final nail into the coffin, the game is as buggy and prone to crash like other games Bethesda has made.
Having played Oblivion for hours, first with PS3, then with Steam version, I decided to do this mod guide as means to list my own personal mod loadout I play with usually, and also provide a configurable user experience. These mods breathe new life into the game, while not straying off from the base game's look and gameplay.
Notice: This is not a guide to make your game as beautiful as possible or make the game as hard as possible. This is to give out vanilla focus upon the game and not resort into flashiness the other modding guides are prone to do. With all these said, let's get upon to prepare our game to be modded. Ran it at least once to generate. Start the game, create character and quit. I would recommend having all the fade sliders at maximum and autosaves off, as autosaves are unreliable.
Backed up the game archive. With these done, we can start to install tools for ourselves. It can be found here: ENBdev. Download the latest version of the ENB. Then go to your download folder and extract the ENB package you find there. After extracting the ZIP-file, you'll see two folders, one called the Wrapper version and one called the Injector version. There isn't much difference between the two, but most people opt for the wrapper version. The injector version is said to be more performance friendly however, and is more often used when there are incompatibility issues with your system.
For a variety of reasons, areas in Morrowind, especially cities, can be more demanding on computer hardware than Oblivion. The simple fact is, big mods require big hardware, regardless of what mod it is see the requirements of Better Cities for example. Having an older computer or a low-end video card certainly doesn't mean you can't run Morroblivion - it just means you may have to turn your graphics settings down accordingly, especially when you travel to Morrowind.
You can't travel between the worlds without the 'world transport' mod, which are installed alongside the main Morroblivion mod. Read the installation instructions, as well as the instructions that come with the 'world transport' mod.
Also, there are several mods that provide additional means of transport used in conjunction with one of the two mods above including the ability to walk between Cyrodiil and Vvardenfell, as well as a transport spell. Check out the list of mods here. You have to be a level four character to start the main quest.
This isn't strictly enforced in Morrowind, but we did it for a reason, detailed here. For Tribunal, you have to complete either the Morrowind main quest OR one of the major faction questlines and be level 15 or above. This is an intentional change from original Morrowind where Tribunal questline could be started at level 1, right after new game as Tribunal expansion was made for high level characters and this makes more sense story-wise.
For Bloodmoon, you can just take the ship from Khuul, or swim there with no additional requirements. Yes by default, but they can be toggled off in Morroblivion INI file. This can also be toggled on and off in Morroblivion INI file.
However, you have to discover a location before you can fast-travel to it. This is a work in progress, but you will see that many NPCs, especially in towns, are far more dynamic than in Morrowind. However, these are just the limited original Morrowind voice-overs.
There is, however, an ongoing project to voice all 52, lines of dialogue in Morrowind. You can check up on the work in progress and download the most recent version here. There is also an ongoing project to create computer-generated voiced dialogue. It sounds a lot better than you probably think! Background: In default Oblivion, many of the game's aspects change as your character's level increases.
For example, a certain boss creature will always be at a level that is five level's higher than your character's current level. This is applied across the game, but this was not the case in Morrowind. The only part of the Morrowind worldspace that is leveled are the leveled lists that have been added to merchant inventories so that you will at least have access to some leveled items in the game if you want to buy them that is. Virtually all merchants sell appropriate leveled items i. Other than that, nothing else is leveled.
Creatures, quest awards, loot, npc's, etc. This is due to the very different systems in Morrowind and Oblivion for handling dialogue and quests. This means that each quest has to be manually edited and scripted by hand.
Please read the installation instructions that come with the mod for details on the status of specific quests.
Experienced Oblivion modders, quest authors and scripters are needed; please see the lists Help Requested thread to help out with the project! There is a list posted here that includes all 'additional content' mods for Morroblivion that are not incorporated into the main project.
Some of these mods are not incorporated because they cannot be e. Inside that make a new folder and call it 'Data'. Drag everything else in there into the Data folder. If you're trying to install multiple mods, such as Qarls visual mod, you can actually merge them all into one Data folder right now if you like. Open up WinRar or 7zip, navigate to the Desktop.
Right click on the Folder we were just working on, the one that should have the name of the mod, and zip it. You should be able to right click it and select Add to Archive. Go to Mod Organizer. Click on the Install a new mod from an archive button on the top left. Navigate to your Desktop. Choose the. Expand the folders until you see the 'Data' folder.
Right click it and choose 'Set data directory' and Click 'Ok'. Mod is now installed. This will make it so you know when a new update is available. You may also add check-marks in the Categories section for better organizing. You can now delete any folders and files you may have created on the Desktop.
